- build depndecies
sudo apt-get build-dep linux linux-image-$(uname -r)
or use git
sudo apt-get install git
- correct the correct deb-src lines in /etc/apt/sources.list. For example, on Disco Dingo you should have:
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco main
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco-updates main
Or, add these lines
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jammy main restricted
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jammy-updates main restricted
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jammy universe
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jammy-updates universe
# Add more lines if needed
sudo apt update <-- must run
- get kernel source

After the kernel source was setup
$ cp /boot/config-$(uname -r) .config
$ make menuconfig
$ nproc
$ time make -j4
$ make modules_install
$ sudo make install
$ sudo update-initramfs -c -k 5.14.13
$ sudo update-grub

$ uname -mrs
